Cardinal Robert Sarah was the prefect of the congregation for divine worship from 2014 until 2021, and he has now published a new book "Song of the Lamb" which outlines his thoughts on the spiritually rich tradition of Catholic sacred music. This book was written in dialogue with Peter Carter as the two trace the history of sacred music in the Church and outline the guidelines for sacred music today.
We are very grateful that Peter Carter joined Andrew Peteprin to discuss this momentous work and his active role in putting it together.

This year we celebrate the 800th Anniversary of Aquinas’s birth. Known for his holiness, intelligence, and immense love for God, Aquinas is often considered one of the greatest thinkers of all time. But today Dr. Kreeft joins Ben Eriksen to discuss why he thinks Aquinas is the greatest philosopher and theologian.
Dr. Kreeft highlights Aquinas’s depth and clarity of thought, his synthesis of previous scholars, and his integration of faith and reason. Hans Urs von Balthasar is well known for his great contributions to theology, but few know of his practical thoughts on priesthood and discernment. Therefore, in today’s episode, Dr. Jonathan Ciraulo and Andrew Petiprin discuss Fr. Balthasar and how he integrated his scholarly life and his priestly vocation. Dr. Ciraulo points out that Fr. Balthasar never received any formal education in theology beyond his time at the seminar and he sought to remain a student chaplain instead of an academic position. This kept him grounded in his theology and uniquely fit to guide priests and those in the process of discernment.
Dr. Ciraulo highlights Fr. Balthasar’s humility, his intellectual curiosity, and his openness to God. They also discuss Balthasar’s thoughts on priestly celibacy and donatism—the heresy that claims that validity of the sacraments depends on the virtue of the priest.
