<DIV>Contributors to this Volume:Robert Alexander Mitchell Kalpakgian Joseph Pearce Mary R. Reichardt Stephen ZelnickA sea adventure, a study of evil, and a cast of fascinating characters, including the crazed captain who is obsessed with hunting down the whale that maimed him - Moby Dick is all of this and more. Based on the author's experiences as a sailor, Herman Melville's probing look into the human heart has been read and analyzed from every angle, including the most absurd. The tragic tale is looked at afresh in this Ignatius Critical Edition, which examines the background and other writings of the author and provides his essay on a work by his literary friend Nathaniel Hawthorne. The Ignatius Critical Editions represent a tradition-oriented alternative to popular textbook series such as the Norton Critical Editions or Oxford World Classics, and are designed to concentrate on traditional readings of the Classics of world literature. While many modern critical editions have succumbed to the fads of modernism and post-modernism, this series will concentrate on tradition-oriented criticism of these great works. Edited by acclaimed literary biographer, Joseph Pearce, the Ignatius Critical Editions will ensure that traditional moral readings of the works are given prominence, instead of the feminist, or deconstructionist readings that often proliferate in other series of 'critical editions'. As such, they represent a genuine extension of consumer-choice, enabling educators, students and lovers of good literature to buy editions of classic literary works without having to 'buy into' the ideologies of secular fundamentalism. The series is ideal for anyone wishing to understand great works of western civilization, enabling the modern reader to enjoy these classics in the company of some of the finest literature professors alive today. </DIV>

Maximilian Schell stars as &ldquo;the flying friar,&rdquo; St. Joseph of Cupertino, in this heartwarming and amazing true story of the humble Franciscan friar who literally rose to sainthood. In the impoverished village of seventeenth century Cupertino, Italy, Joseph&rsquo;s peasant mother convinces the reluctant abbott (Ricardo Montalban) to accept her son into the monastery. With the support of the kindly local bishop who sees in him a great deal more than others do, and by a series of miraculous incidents, the simple but pious Joseph is ordained a priest. Yet some are convinced that it is the devil, not God, who is responsible for Joseph&rsquo;s miraculous powers&mdash;until a final miracle reveals to all his true sanctity. This movie is not rated but was created with an adult audience in mind. It may contain violence indicative of the life and times of the saint and characters portrayed. We would recommend parental guidance and that parents preview it before watching with children.

The Reluctant Saint: The Story of St. Joseph of Cupertino

<DIV>The Mass and the Saints is a work both of deep spirituality and profound insight into the glories of the Church's liturgy. It brings together passages from great spiritual writers throughout the ages, from all centuries in which the Mass has been offered. Every aspect and part of the Mass is covered, the quotations forming a continuous commentary on the central action of the Church's worship. Most of the authors are canonized saints of the Church, and many are doctors of the Church. Included are Church Fathers such as St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and St. Gregory the Great; great scholars of the Middle Ages such as St. Anselm, St. Albert the Great and St. Thomas Aquinas; and more modern figures such as Prosper Gueranger and Pope John XXIII. The quotations have been selected and freshly translated by Fr. Thomas Crean. These writings will nourish understanding and appreciation of the Mass, and also aid prayer and contemplation. "[This book] reminds the reader of the huge supply of enriching aspects at every Mass that are often easy to miss." The Catholic Sun</DIV>

Fulton Sheen's Apartment Was Not What You Think

<DIV>"The point of departure for my creation was not primarily the destiny of the sixteen Carmelites of Compiègne but the figure of the young Blanche. . . . Born in the profound horror of a time darkened by the signs of destiny, this figure arose before me in some way as the embodiment of the mortal agony of an era going totally to its ruin." -Gertrud von le FortSet during the French Revolution, this classic novella is based on the true story of the Carmelite nuns of Compiègne, who offered their lives for the preservation of the Church in France. The story unfolds around the fictional character of Blanche de la Force, an excessively fearful aristocrat who enters the Carmelite convent in order to flee the dangers of the world. As the Reign of Terror begins, Blanche is no safer in the convent than in the streets of Paris, and some of the sisters begin to doubt her ability to endure persecution and possibly martyrdom. The fates of Blanche and the other Carmelites take several unexpected turns, leaving the reader with an inspiring witness not only of martyrdom but of God's power being glorified in human weakness. </DIV>

<DIV>In response to actual questions many people have asked him about angels and demons, well-known author and philosophy professor Peter Kreeft separates fact from fantasy and myth from reality as he answers 100 common questions about these spiritual beings. Based on a very popular college course he teaches on this subject, this book responds to the incredible amount of interest in angelic beings and attempts to clear up some of the misinformation abounding in the numerous books today on what we know about these mysterious spirits.Drawing on the Bible, traditional Church teaching and St. Thomas Aquinas, Kreeft gives straight, clear answers to the perennial and philosophical questions asked about angels and demons throughout time. In his typical lucid, profound and sometimes humorous style, Kreeft answers such questions as ""What are angels made of?"", ""How do angels communicate with God?"", ""How do angels communicate with us?"", ""Do demons, or devils, or evil spirits really exist?"" and many more. Pope Leo XIV Highlights that AI Cannot be Conscious

<DIV>Well-known author, psychologist ; and priest Fr. Benedict ; Groeschel draws on his own years of personal experiences in ; dealing with people's problems, tragedies and "darkness" as ; he offers help and guidance for any Christian troubled or ; burdened by life. If you are struggling with fear, anxiety, ; grief, loss of loved ones, hurt, anger or anything that ; makes life difficult or the road through it dark, then this ; book was written for you. Fr. Benedict offers practical ; suggestions on how to keep going and even grow with the ; help of God's grace, even when this help seems remote. ; The Christian response to the problem of evil and ; suffering began with the cross of Christ. Our answer is ; inseparable from the cross-from Jesus' own encounter with ; evil and his triumph over it. In this light, Fr. Benedict ; recalls some of our most frequently encountered sorrows and ; griefs: the failure of friends, financial and personal ; insecurity, the failure of some in the Church, our own ; inconsistent behaviors and weaknesses, and the death of ; loved ones. As we examine these painful experiences, he ; shows that we can find solutions in the Gospel and in the ; lives of saints, heroes, and very brave ordinary people. ; "Many guides have been written for people struggling with ; the mystery of evil. But each generation, each age has its ; own dark background in front of which the struggle to keep ; going must be worked out. In every age, men ask 'how am I ; going to go on to arise from darkness?' It is that which my ; book will address." Fr. Benedict Groeschel, ; CFR</DIV>

Closing Credits

Cardinal Sarah&nbsp;returns with this must-read rumination on his hopes, fears, and realistic predictions for the Catholic Church in the coming decades, with a special view of his home continent of Africa and the pontificate of Leo XIV.
With characteristic directness, intensity, and depth, Cardinal Sarah addresses the liturgy, mission work, religious vocations, tradition, atheism, the papacy, and the family, among many other current issues. In every case, our only path to freedom is radical, loving fidelity to Christ and to our Creator. In His Eminence&rsquo;s words, &ldquo;to submit to reality is already to submit to God.&rdquo;
Unlike what the world preaches, the answer to the seemingly unsurmountable challenges of today and of tomorrow is not mere economic prosperity. After all, Cardinal Sarah says, &ldquo;the worst violence does not arise from the shantytowns but is plotted in the gilded salons of the powerful, in the felt-lined cabins of the luxury yachts.&rdquo; The answer is not a new Church, for &ldquo;the Church needs, not to be reconstructed, but rather to be purified. Not to be reformed, but to be sanctified.&rdquo;
Today, there is perhaps no voice more credible and resonant than that of Cardinal&nbsp;Sarah. He is a prophet not of doom, but of renewal. This book compiles his invaluable insight on current issues into one approachable volume.

2050: Prospects for the Church (Audiobook)

<DIV>The liturgy of the Catholic Church is the action by which Jesus Christ unites the members of the Church in glorifying God. It makes people holy through words, music, action and signs. The Eucharist is intended to be the most powerful means of union with our God, with the saints in heaven and with each other, and is to be a foretaste of the praise of God given in joy by the saints in heaven. As we move through the whole of the year, the Church is united with the mysteries of Christ's earthly life so as to come closer to her Lord and Saviour. Monsignor Peter Elliott provides scholarship and many years' experience and love of the liturgy. His previous work Ceremonies of the Modern Roman Rite has helped many people to celebrate our liturgy with attention and devotion. This present work is a guide to the most important moments of the Church year from Advent and Christmas to Holy Week, Corpus Christi and to the Solemnity of Christ the King. His book has been a long-awaited guide to those who wish to celebrate the events of the Church year with dignity, devotion, and deep faith. "Monsignor Elliot is one of the most insightful and reliable liturgists writing today. The rubrics of the Roman Rite are not self-explaining, but with Elliot's work safely in reach, a generation of liturgists raised without a rich training in tradition can confidently approach the Ritual and be more respectful of the faithful's fundamental right to sound worship." -Dr. Edward Peters Institute for Pastoral Theology, Ave Maria University </DIV>

This powerful, timely work is written by a pioneer of the game-changing treatment that allows women who have started the chemical abortion process to reverse the very abortion they initiated. Dr. George Delgado gives us an inside look at how and why he started the Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) Network, with stories about the challenges and pitfalls along the way.&nbsp;
He presents a collection of personal accounts by women who attempted to reverse their chemical abortions. He also gives the personal account of the doctor who performed the very first documented reversal, as well as moving testimonies by three APR hotline nurses.
The timeliness of this book cannot be overstated. As the percentage of chemical abortions in the United States approaches 70 percent, more women will wonder whether they can reverse their chemical abortions. And there is a growing realization that government health-related agencies seek to eliminate dissenting opinions. APR has been strongly persecuted, while the abortion drug mifepristone (RU-486) was rushed through the approval process at the FDA, with regulations and laws violated along the way.
Dr. Delgado shows why the Medical-Abortion Complex so vehemently opposes APR and strives to stop it, not wanting women to know about APR because it is counter to the narrative that abortion is good for all women. He concludes with words of hope, showing that APR is a metaphor for forgiveness, renewal, rebirth, and second chances.

Abortion Pill Reversal: A Second Chance at Choice (Audiobook)

<DIV>Now with a new afterword by Pope emeritus Benedict XVI! In a time when technology penetrates our lives in so many ways and materialism exerts such a powerful influence over us, Cardinal Robert Sarah presents a bold book about the strength of silence. The modern world generates so much noise, he says, that seeking moments of silence has become both harder and more necessary than ever before.Silence is the indispensable doorway to the divine, explains the cardinal in this profound conversation with Nicolas Diat. Within the hushed and hallowed walls of the La Grande Chartreux, the famous Carthusian monastery in the French Alps, Cardinal Sarah addresses the following questions: Can those who do not know silence ever attain truth, beauty, or love? Do not wisdom, artistic vision, and devotion spring from silence, where the voice of God is heard in the depths of the human heart?After the international success of God or Nothing, Cardinal Sarah seeks to restore to silence its place of honor and importance. "Silence is more important than any other human work," he says, "for it expresses God. The true revolution comes from silence; it leads us toward God and others so as to place ourselves humbly and generously at their service."</DIV>

A father has a crucial role and responsibility as the spiritual leader of his family. Many problems in the Church and culture today can be traced back to fathers neglecting this responsibility, and failing to realize that their children's relationship with God depends predominantly on their example.
The man as the spiritual head of the household is not an outdated Biblical clich&eacute;, but rather a spiritual, biological, and sociological truth that modern man has forgotten. The results have been cataclysmic for our modern culture and Church.
Because of Our Fathers makes the compelling case for a father's essential and primary role in the spiritual lives of his children in three ways: 1) Presenting clear Church teaching on parenting and fatherhood 2) Presenting strong evidence from studies on the crucial role of the father 3) Testimonies of twenty Catholic men and women whose fathers inspired them to love Christ and his Church.
These powerful testimonies will inspire men to consider more carefully the amazing privilege and gift that God has given them to be living examples of the love and faithfulness of our Father in Heaven. Among those telling stories about their fathers are well-known Catholic leaders such as Patrick Madrid, Abby Johnson, Bishop Joseph Strickland, Fr. Paul Scalia, Jesse Romero, Fr. Rocky, Anthony Esolen, Christopher Check, and Fr. Gerald Murray. The other contributors give additional powerful testimonies of their fathers' influence that led them to the Catholic Church.
Our families, culture and Church will continue to suffer, says Tyler Rowley, until an authentic Catholic fatherhood is restored among the faithful. Speaking directly to Catholic men today, Rowley uses the moving stories of these twenty fathers to inspire them to educate their children in the faith, and not allow our modern culture to replace their Christian identity.

<DIV>As she has done with other books of Scripture, the mystic von Speyr here provides incisive, profound and original verse by verse commentary on the Elijah cycle, reflecting on both the action and events of the narrative as well as on the meaning of each verse. Both the content and the style are stimulus to prayerful reflection and a help to meditation. Von Speyr focuses on the importance of understanding Elijah as a prototype of Christ and a key to the New Testament message. Some of the chapters included here are "The Drought is Announced", "Elijah and Ahab", "The Sacrifice of Mt. Carmel", "The Encounter With God", "The Call of Elisha", "Ahaziah and Elijah", and "Elijah is Caught Up to Heaven". </DIV>

<DIV>In this volume, von Balthasar looks at the Church, ""the Bride of Christ,"" as both unspotted and unfaithful, the Church of saints and of sinners. He goes through Scripture and tradition looking at both sides of the Church and what they mean. </DIV>
